Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared Omar Abdullah’s post, writing, “I am eagerly looking forward to my visit to Sonmarg in Jammu and Kashmir for the tunnel inauguration. You have rightly pointed out the benefits for tourism and the local economy. Additionally, I really liked the aerial pictures and videos!”

In Jammu and Kashmir, heavy snowfall occurs during the winter season. As a result, Sonmarg is completely cut off from the rest of the country. Driving on snow-covered roads can be extremely risky and difficult. For this reason, local people also move down during winters, but now that will not be the case. Sonmarg will remain connected to Delhi during winters.

The construction of this tunnel will increase tourism in Sonmarg. Most tourists visiting Kashmir go to enjoy .
