When we think of casinos, luxury hotels, gambling, and night parties, the first thing that comes to mind is Las Vegas in America. This is a city full of surprises, where the saying goes, “Whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas (i.e., behind the scenes).”
Especially when it comes to winning in casinos, it is not surprising that this city has many secrets. On the question-and-answer internet site Quora.com, some people broke their silence on this matter and told five things about casinos that no one usually tells.
5 Secrets of Casinos:
- Drinking Alcohol Ensures Defeat
Many travelers consider gambling in Vegas along with the excellent alcohol served for free as a reasonable convenience. It is a well-thought-out strategy of these casinos to serve alcohol to people while gambling. “A drink of alcohol will impair your judgment and thinking ability. If you’re here to win, you need to gamble without getting drunk,” says John Mixon, who grew up in Nevada.
- Casinos Dominate
Respondents to Quora.com repeatedly said casinos have an advantage in every game – but it varies. California software engineer Ilya Wegman and Las Vegas hotel manager Jane Seng believe roulette is the hardest of the popular table games to win. Casinos have about a 5 percent advantage in the double zero roulette wheel game. Mixon says games at smaller Las Vegas casinos are easier because they can’t afford to hire the best dealers. “Casinos make a profit in every game except live poker,” says Las Vegas resident Don Dawson. “It’s the only game where casinos don’t take money directly from players. It’s completely up to you and your skill to decide how much you win or lose.”
- A Plan to Mislead
Once you enter a casino, you have to find your way out, and that can be quite challenging. “Casino floors are designed in such a way that there is no easy way out,” says Wegman. “You get lost in a casino because the casino wants you to get lost. Then before you can think, you find a seat at an empty machine and gamble away some money.”
- Casinos Don’t Have Clocks
Casinos want you to stay lost, and that’s why you won’t see any clocks in a casino. “They don’t want you to say, ‘I’m getting late, let’s go.’ The longer you play, the more likely you are to lose money,” says Las Vegas resident Garrick Saito.
- Win and Get Out
Nearly every person who responded to Quora.com said the only way to win money and take it home is to just stop playing and get out if you win. “The whole time you’re in Vegas, you’ll probably win one or two times in all. If you win, just get up and get out. If you don’t, you’ll almost certainly lose all your money, including interest,” says Mixon.
